Cottage in Dorset, Isle Of Purbeck

Dorset. Sleeps up to 8

This 18th century characterful cottage is set within a terrace of properties in the village of Kingston. From its hilltop position, there are fantastic views over the surrounding countryside and Corfe Castle. The castle itself is one of the area s most popular attractions and is cared for by the National Trust. The village is well worth exploring too, as it has quaint streets lined with period cottages, tea rooms and a choice of pubs. Heading east, you will find the traditional seaside town of Swanage, which has something for everyone including a sandy beach and bustling high street. The property is also the ideal base for touring, with many of Dorset s most famous landmarks within reach, including Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. A path leads to the front door of the end of terraced cottage. Once inside, you are met with a charming flagstone hallway, with the lounge immediately to your left. This inviting lounge has a wood burner (decorative only) and TV, making it the ideal spot to settle down after a day spent exploring. Also from here, you can admire the first of many panoramic views from the property. A useful downstairs WC is next door and at the end of the hallway, you will find the kitchen. This galley style space has all you need to prepare family meals including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Just next door is the characterful dining room, which has a beautiful decorative fireplace and yet more wonderful views; a cupboard houses a TV, DVD and compact freezer. From the dining room a door leads into an inner hallway with stairs down to a shower room with WC. A further few steps bring you to a compact double bedroom with direct access into the garden. Heading down another set of stairs leads you to the converted outbuildings, which have been made into a characterful bunk room with lovely views toward Corfe Castle. There is also another door leading outside from here. Once upstairs in the property, there is a pretty twin bedroom where you may catch a glimpse of a passing stream train. A double bedroom with window seat, space for a travel cot and feature fire, it s a very inviting place to sleep before taking a soak in the bathroom with WC next door. Due to the age and setting of the property, there are many changes of level and character features including low doorways and areas of restricted head height this does add to its charm but may not be suitable for guests with restricted mobility. Heading outside from the dining room or lounge, you will find the garden which wraps around the whole of the cottage with ample space for playing games, stretching your legs or for the dogs and children to let off some steam. When it s time to relax ,there are two terraces to choose from which are ideal for leisurely meals, BBQs and drinks. Throughout the garden there are wonderful countryside views. A traditional ha ha runs along the bottom of the garden. To the rear of the property is an off road private parking area for three vehicles. An electric charging point is available.
