Set out on foot to follow the coastal path westwards to The Needles or eastwards to Blackgang Chine and St Catherine s Lighthouse, both routes offering spectacular scenery. Situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the local area boasts a variety of small coves, perfect for swimming, surfing paddling and boating as well as a two mile stretch of sandy beach at Compton Bay. The local tearoom, general store and restaurants are also just a five minute walk away, ideal for rounding off a long walk with a hearty meal. For the golfers in the group Freshwater Bay Golf Course is a nearby links course with spectacular coastal views. Only slightly further afield, a short drive will bring you to the tiny town of Freshwater, which is home to supermarkets, a sports centre and swimming pool plus a variety of shops, inns and restaurants.
