Bridge End Bothy, Wooler

Northumberland. Sleeps up to 4

Attached to the main farmhouse, Bridge End Bothy dates back to the early 1600's and has independent and private access within the village of Wooler. As a characterful stone-built holiday cottage, much of its historic charm and original features have been retained to keep couples or travellers returning all-year-round. Inside, the lounge boasts exposed beams, reclaimed wooden floors, and a woodburning stove which is tucked away into an inglenook fireplace. Period features continue into the kitchen/diner, which boasts a country cottage feel, with French doors that open up to the lovely garden. There is also the addition of a utility area and a bathroom, both located on the ground floor. Upstairs you will discover two bedrooms; a large double and a smaller double, both are layered with a sense of tradition, and presented in a classic yet unique fashion. Outside you will find an enclosed garden, a beautiful suntrap which locks in the sunshine throughout the day, where you can sit back with a refreshing drink and be at one with the fabulous location. The retreat lies next to a river and Doddington Milk Bar, which offers an opportunity for you to dine for breakfast and lunch, or indulge in one of their array of sweet treat and of course the famous Doddington Dairy ice cream. Also within striking distance of the cottage is the Riverside Complex, offering endless hours of fun for the whole family, with use of a heated swimming pool, a bar with Sky Sports and a restaurant with a menu to suit all tastes. On the edge of the Northumberland National Park, Wooler is just a short drive away from the historic town of Alnwick, with its famous castle and Gardens, and the well preserved Garrison town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Chillingham Castle, with its ancient herd of wild white cattle and Coldstream, just over the Scottish border, are definitely worthy of a visit. A holiday to remember.
