The Roundhouse, Blackford

Argyll. Sleeps up to 7

Auchterarder 6.4 miles. The Roundhouse is a superb stone cottage nestled on the outskirts of Blackford village, in Scotland. The property boasts stunning views out across the surrounding farmland and has a well-decorated interior with period features such as the exposed beams to add a wealth of character, whilst the light walls and modern furnishings and laminate flooring make it a homely retreat. Step into the spacious sitting room where you can sink into the plush sofa cushions at the end of the day, whilst the electric fire provides that extra bit of warmth during those chillier evenings. Walk through to the open-plan kitchen/diner with plenty of seating for family gatherings over a well-deserved glass of wine, whilst the kitchen houses all the appliances you could need. The property benefits from four bedrooms, a ground-floor single, two first-floor doubles and a first-floor twin, each with their own range of furnishings. Delight in the family bathroom with the choice of a corner bath or walk-in shower to prepare for your day. Outside has a large lawned and gravelled garden where you can dine alfresco, or simply sit out with a refreshing drink and take in your natural surroundings whilst the sun sets. Blackford has an ATM, a pub, and a small shop for basic daily needs during your stay. Auchterarder is just over 6 miles away from The Roundhouse, offering useful amenities including a doctor's surgery, dentists, pharmacy, two high quality butchers, greengrocers, bakeries, and a large CoOp and Spar. Both offer a wide range of independent boutiques and hairdressers, as well as boasting a wide variety of restaurants and fast food takeaways. The world famous 5 star Gleneagles Hotel is situated 1 mile from The Roundhouse, as is the Gleneagles Golf Course and Auchterarder Golf Club a bit further afield, both offering a range of courses for different skill levels. Gleneagles offers fine dining, a variety of sports facilities including country sports, and a spa. Make sure you visit the stately home of Scone Palace (pronounced "Scoon"), a Category A listed building and stunning landscaped gardens with views overlooking the River Tay. The highly acclaimed Scottish botanist David Douglas started his botanical career as a gardener and forester at Scone Palace, and was the one who introduced the Douglas Fir to Scotland and Europe, all the way from North America - the first ever Douglas Fir still stands proud in the gardens today, and was grown from a seed in 1827. Choose to visit Perth Museum & Art Gallery for a spot of culture, home to fascinating displays detailing the local history, whilst Perth Leisure Pool is ideal for a family day trip, a particularly excellent choice for your little ones. Venture into the city centre of Stirling and visit its historic sites of Stirling Castle and Stirling Old Town Jail, both well worth the visit. Further afield is the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park where you can experience long walks and hiking opportunities in one of the most natural and picturesque settings in the whole of Scotland. The Roundhouse is the perfect property for a peaceful and tranquil holiday. EPC Rating: Band D
