Cluaincarraig, Kilkelly, County Mayo

County Mayo. Sleeps up to 6

Kilkelly 1.4 miles. A delightful traditional stone cottage, set on the outskirts of the small town of Kilkelly, in County Mayo, Ireland. In a tranquil setting, this place is a true getaway - set amid 2.5 acres of private gardens, with wide, well-maintained lawns, paddocks and an orchard, it also boasts a children’s play area. Cluaincarraig is the old family home of the current owners, and has been lovingly restored and fully modernised, while keeping a sense of traditional country charm. Stepping through the front door, you find yourself in a stunning open-plan kitchen/diner with a warming range, and all the appliances you could need to cook up some delicious meals. The dining area benefits from stunning original stone walls, exposed, an attractive dresser and a large country dining table where you can gather for family meals. A roaring open fire rests in the dining area and sitting room, ideal for those chillier winter months. Choose between curling up on either of the two sofas or the armchair, put your feet up and unwind into the evening in this cosy cottage, catching up with your favourite shows. The large conservatory with views over the garden rests adjacent to this and can be used as a quiet space to catch up on some work, or read a good book. The property has access to three well-presented bedrooms, two double and a twin, each of which has Jack-and-Jill access to either the luxury shower room or bathroom. Look forward to relaxing and unwinding in this peaceful setting, perfect for enjoying a refreshing drink outside whilst watching the sunset, or a spot of alfresco dining. Cluaincarraig benefits from being just a 10 minute drive from Ireland West Airport Knock, and is close to the town’s Marian shrine which attracts thousands of visitors each year. It is ideally situated for sightseeing trips all over Ireland’s beautiful mid-west – being just 25 minutes from the bustling town of Castlebar, and 45 minutes from all that the wild Atlantic coast has to offer, including the coastal hub of Westport – famous for its music and culture, and Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s holy mountain. Closer to home are larger towns such as Claremorris, with Clare lake for fishing, walking and an 18-hole golf course. And while you’re in the area, make sure to explore the surrounding countryside by walking or cycling, hugely popular in this area. Also discover a number of traditional Irish pubs and restaurants for that fine dining experience. After all this sightseeing you can return to this gem of a cottage to relax and unwind.
