Inland hikes around the scattering of lochs and hillsides are plentiful, with a variety of historical and archaeological sites offering a spot for a walk and a picnic, including Calanais Standing Stones, Lewis Castle grounds, Whalebone Arch and walks through Stiomrabhaigh and Dun Borranish. If it is seafood that you enjoy, there is the opportunity to try fresh seafood straight from the ocean at Miavaig Harbour. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway.
