Loch Cottage, Dalbeg

Isle of Lewis. Sleeps up to 4

Emerging from the loch-side village of Dalbeg, on the Isle of Lewis, this fantastic, renovated cottage offers a high standard of facilities for you and your family to make the most of your stay in such a beautiful and remote area. Arriving at Loch Cottage and parking on the drive, you will instantly be immersed in a world of rolling hills and lochs, where the property overlooks the beautiful Loch Dalbeg with its scattering of lily pads and plentiful wildlife. A delightful open-plan living area will greet you upon arrival, sporting clean and contemporary décor, with a wonderful, airy space overlooking the loch through large French windows leading out onto the decking, making the sitting area the perfect place to recline and plan your day with a morning coffee. After you have used the spacious kitchen and ample appliances to make a magnificent breakfast, noting the lovely design of the space made for maximum usability, you can present your creation on the dining table with a view across the garden, taking in the large bookcase and stylish furniture chosen to make you feel right at home, including a handy separate utility room. As the afternoon wears on, snuggle up in one of the two bedrooms available; a king-size where gentle blues have been added to the décor to bring in an aspect of the local beach, as well as ample storage, and a twin room perfect for children, and you will also find a shower room, ideal for a refreshing shower at the end of a long day. The stunning loch at the foot of the property can be enjoyed to the full whilst sitting on the furniture provided in the decking area, a wonderful spot for an outdoor lunch, or to take in the last of the day's light. The local area is teaming with activities, and you needn’t look further then the end of the road, where a beautiful sandy beach invites you to take a stroll through the fresh, salty air, before having a picnic on the soft white sand and enjoying the wildlife flourishing in such an untouched location. There are also a variety of historical sites within easy driving distance of the cottage where you can immerse yourself in the history and culture of the area, some examples being the close by Norse Mill and Kiln just a short drive to peak into historic settlements, Dun Carloway, an Iron Age broch and the restored Black House Village of Gearrannan a few miles from the cottage, and the famous Calanais Standing Stones and visitors' centre where you can stop for lunch, as well as options such as the Black House Museum at Arnol and the pottery at Borgh. A little further from the cottage you will find the Outer Hebrides' main town, Stornoway, offering a range of pubs, restaurants, cafes and local craft shops where you can purchase Harris Tweed or try out locally sourced seafood. Whatever the weather, there will always be something to fill your day with a stay at the wonderful Loch Cottage. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway. EPC Rating: Band E
