Enclosed back garden with sitting out area and garden furniture. Private parking for 1 car. No smoking. . This cottage is a perfect place to stay on the Isle of Lewis. It’s only a few minutes walk from a sandy beach, enjoys a sea view and its location is superb, under two miles from the centre of Stornoway with all its amenities. Being so close to Stornoway is a real perk as it means you’re perfectly placed to explore the wider island(s) and also you’ll enjoy quick and easy access to the ferry port and airport. The cottage just keeps on ticking the boxes, so we recommend simply booking the place now and being forever glad that you did so. The owners have done a fabulous job at renovating the property.

Entering the cottage, there’s a living room that draws you in with a gas fire and wall-mounted Smart TV, a dining room with wood burner and extra seating area, a well equipped kitchen and a family bathroom. Up the stairs there’s a single bedroom halfway up to the first floor, and then on the first floor itself there are two double bedrooms and a shower room. It’s the perfect holiday cottage for a range of group sizes; families up to five will enjoy because it’s still spacious and has two bathrooms, but equally couples will like staying in the cottage because it retains a cosy feel.

Stornoway has lots to see and do and being so close is ideal because you can stock up easily with provisions to fuel days out exploring the isles as well as enjoy the great cafés, bars and restaurants on offer. From Stornoway we urge you to get out driving all the roads that lead out from town. There are mesmerising beaches only a short distance away at Col, Gress and Tolsta (you don’t need to go all the way to Harris for that!). Drive up to the Butt of Lewis to see the Stevenson lighthouse, go out west and visit the Blackhouse village as well as of course the Callanish Standing Stones. Drive further west to Uig where the Lewis Chessmen were found. And do drive south through the Harris Hills to the Isle of Harris (same landmass as Lewis, so no ferry needed) - visit the gin distillery and keep going to the west coast to see the world famous beaches. You can then compare which you prefer, the Luskentyre and Scarista spread of sand or the Lewis star beaches of Uig, Carnish, Gress or Eoropie. We could go on and on about how amazing Lewis & Harris are. But we won’t. We won’t spoil the surprise. Book this cottage and find out for yourself. It’s a perfect base to explore an astounding place.
