The semi-detached cottage, adjacent to the owner’s home, sits within the site of the Old Byre Visitor Centre which is a Visit Scotland 4 star rated centre with the Old Byre Showroom, café and children’s play area. Guests staying at the cottage have free access to the children’s play area. The café serves delicious meals with a Turkish theme, coffees, teas and cakes, which is great if you don’t feel like cooking.

Downstairs, the cottage has an electric fire in the open plan living area, creating a cosy atmosphere on cooler evenings. The living area looks out across the fields and over the large enclosed garden which is well maintained with bushes and shrubs, making it a pleasant spot to relax in the sun. The bedrooms all have rural views and additional seating areas, for those who may like some quiet time to read a book or browse the magazines that are provided.

The electricity is via an original coin meter which the owner provides the coins for. This is a little quirk of the property which can be good fun for children. Blackwaterfoot is just 5 miles away which has a butcher, convenience store, bakery, golf club, beach and a hotel with leisure facilities, restaurant and bar, all open to the public.

Walkers can visit King’s Cave nearby, or a few miles up the coast is Lochranza with a whisky distillery and car ferries to the Kintyre Peninsula. This rural cottage is a good base for anyone looking to explore the island and is perfect for a weekend break. Beach 5 miles. Shop and pub 5 miles, restaurant on-site.
