There are numerous attractions close by including The Bowes Museum, home to an internationally renowned art collection, Raby, Durham, Auckland and Barnard Castles. Durham Cathedral and Egglestone Abbey. Multi award winning Killhope Victorian lead mine museum and Beamish, world famous open air museum. Entering this magnificent and spacious, period stately home, from the landscaped gardens, through to the splendid entrance hall, with an array of characterful features. Drawing room with piano and roaring open fire, perfect for those cooler evenings. Next is the sunroom, with seating area, enjoying spectacular views over the Dales and the River Tees. Followed by the sitting room, the perfect place to relax after an epic day out, with smart TV/DVD with a selection of DVDs, surround sound and open fire, ideal for cosy nights in. The well equipped kitchen has a traditional country house Aga, choice of gas and electric hobs and ovens to please every chef, there is also a large pantry, dishwasher, American style fridge/freezer with water and ice dispenser, wine cooler, microwave, washer/dryer and dining area. Heading up the rear staircase from the grand stair hall, you will find nine spacious individually decorated bedrooms, in classic country style all with magnificent views. They include a super king size with en suite bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC. Two further super king size bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms with shower over bath and WC. A twin with en suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Another super king size with en suite bathroom with handheld shower over bath and WC and a further two twin bedrooms. Located at the end of the corridor from the twin bedrooms is a bathroom with shower over bath and WC. A double bedroom and a bathroom with shower over bath and WC, located opposite the double. As well as an additional WC. Finally completing the accommodation is the last twin bedroom with an additional double bed. There is also a shower room with shower and WC. Venturing outside to the beautiful landscaped mature gardens with seating and picnic areas, there is a private bridge leading to ancient woodland and riverbank with walks to explore. There is also a hard tennis court and garden games to enjoy, including croquet and boules. Ample private, off road parking is available, directly in front of the house and to the rear.
