Barn in Mid Wales, Abergavenny

Brecon Beacons. Sleeps up to 12

Bettws is a sweet village in the Brecon Beacons. Country and mountain walks are right on your doorstep, with the Sugar Loaf and Skirrid nearby providing amazing scenery. Just three miles to the historic town of Abergavenny with an eclectic mix of shops, pubs and restaurants, regular festivals and markets and even a little cinema for rainy days. Nearby you can visit galleries, museums and historic castles. Interesting days out at Blaenavon Iron Works and The Big Pit or perhaps try star gazing at the Brecon Beacons Visitor Centre. Plenty of activities to enjoy including riding, golf, kayaking on the Usk and Wye or a visit to Hay on Wye the town of books, which is twenty miles away. It is difficult not to be impressed when driving up the gravelled drive to this detached barn. Entering the double height dining room simply adds to a very welcoming arrival. The room flows to an opulent lounge with TV/DVD, with large comfortable sofas framing a warming wood burner, providing a relaxing environment any time of year. There are some stone steps down to a delightful sun room, looking out over the grounds and an ideal spot to enjoy a good book and a cup of tea. The kitchen is also a few steps from the lounge and is well equipped for large family gatherings. It has a double electric oven and hob, microwave, coffee machine and dishwasher. A small flight of wooden stairs takes you to a large utility area with fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and handy WC. Heading away from the lounge through the dining area and up a step, takes you to the ground floor sleeping accommodation. The first room is a sweet double bedroom, with ample wardrobe space, bed linen and towels provided. There is a useful WC before reaching a pretty en suite double bedroom with shower and WC. For entertaining the family there is a games room at the end of this hallway, which is home to a pool table. The first floor is accessed via the imposing staircase that greets you upon arrival to Kestrel Barn, alongside the dining area, with the landing stretching across the length of the building. The master bedroom has a king size bed, with character A frame beams and lovely rural and mountain views. It also benefits from a dressing area that leads to the large en suite with shower and WC, both down a few steps from the bedroom. There is a further double bedroom, again with a beautiful aspect. The family bathroom is well appointed with a roll top bath, separate shower and WC. The final two bedrooms are both twin rooms. This detached barn is a splendid holiday destination for families and couples, the wonderful location and local offerings makes this a must visit whatever the season. Outside there are large enclosed grounds with lawn and patio with furniture. There is ample private parking which includes a carport.
