Cottage in Mid Wales, Hay-On-Wye

Brecon Beacons. Sleeps up to 8

Retaining all its former character, with cruck oak beams and exposed stonework, Hay Bluff House is the perfect hideaway, with acres of gardens and fields, as well as a private waterfall. Set just beneath Lord Hereford's Knob and Hay Bluff, in the Black Mountains (part of the Brecon Beacons National Park) you can stride, pedal or ride out across some of the country's most beautiful terrain, right from the doorstep. Things to do include rock climbing, abseiling, gorge walking, rafting, archery, caving and Tregoyd riding stables and outdoor activity centre which is just at the foot of the mountain lane, with great trails across the hills to explore on. Not forgetting Wye Valley with its canoeing, shooting, river and lake fishing, which is near Hay on Wye, home of the famous Hay Festival, with 30 bookshops, cafes and shops. The cottage has a homely interior full of rich hues and welcoming open fires in both living rooms. The underfloor heating throughout ensures chilly evenings turn into cosy nights. Rustle up a feast fit for a king in the country kitchen, with under floor heating and breakfast table, fully equipped with Aga, gas hob, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Steps lead into one of the two living rooms with open fire (logs included), a spacious dining table and other antique furniture perfect for a celebratory meal. A few more steps lead into the second larger drawing room with a further open fire, (logs included), comfortable sofas, Sky TV, DVD, table tennis and pool table. Stairs lead from the living room down to the ground floor, where you will find two double bedrooms, one with additional single bed. There is a bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC, and a utility room with washing machine. Steep stone stairs also lead from the living room to the king size bedroom with additional single bed and en suite bathroom, with hand held shower over bath and WC. Outside is the enclosed garden and patio area with garden furniture. Two well behaved dogs are welcome but not on the furniture or upstairs please. There is ample parking, but please note lane can be quite bumpy so be careful if you have a low car.
