Enjoying fabulous uninterrupted views across the machair to Clachan Sands, this beautifully designed property boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious rooms, ideally lending itself to large or multiple families holidaying together. There are few places on the British Isles where you can feel so close to nature and the elements, however North Uist is undoubtedly one of them, with miles of spectacular white sandy beaches and turquoise seas.

One of the main draws to North Uist is its prehistoric past with the earliest crannog site in Scotland located at Eilean Dòmhnuill, possibly dating back to 3200 BC. The chambered cairn at Barpa Langass is worth visiting, as are the roundhouses at Baile Sear (Baleshare), the standing stones and stone circles at Fir Bhreige and Pobull Fhinn. Other sites of interest include the Bonnie Prince Charlie Trail, Trinity Temple at Carnish and the Kildonan Museum.

With an abundance of wildlife, the islands are a mecca for those interested in birdwatching with the elusive corncrake, hen harriers, sea eagles and golden eagles, just a few of the species that can often be seen. During the summer months, whales, dolphins and basking sharks visit, and the machair becomes an amazing shimmering mass of colour, peppered with a variety of wildflowers, including rare orchids.

Nearby is Lochmaddy, 6 miles away, and is home to Taigh Chearsabhagh, an award-winning museum and arts centre, and the Uist Outdoor Centre with a wide range of activities including sea kayaking, diving and whale watching. A short boat trip out to the remote Island of St Kilda and the Monarch Isles is sure to make an enjoyable day out for all ages. Or, for those who love to fish, sea and loch fishing is available locally (licence required).

Clachan Lodge is also a great base for exploring further afield, with Berneray, South Uist, Eriskay and Benbecula all within easy reach, whilst a 5-minute drive north to the Berneray/Leverburgh ferry will allow you to discover the popular islands of Harris and Lewis.

The landscape and history of North Uist, together with the hospitality of its people, provide a wonderful escape from the pressures of modern life and offer an active or relaxing family holiday! With wonderful sunrises and sunsets that will amaze you, come and enjoy! Beach 300 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 6 miles.
