The "award winning" Smithy is glorious old stone period cottage to sleep 6 guests in three bedrooms. Set in the midst of the tiny hisoric hamlet of Llanthony. The cottage has large gardens and is beside a pretty tumbling river. Within easy reach of Off's Dyke Walk and Abergavenny, The Wye Valley and The Black Mountains.

Visitors are welcome to bring one well behaved dog.

This beautiful wisteria clad cottage has beamed ceilings, floors of polished wood and flagstones with underfloor heating. and a large open fire.

Walk just across the village square to the unique pub situated below Llantony Abbey; the Smithy is just the place for complete relaxation and peace. Masses of gorgeous walks right from the door - whether you are a hearty keen walker or just wanting an easy but picturesque wander around the country lanes to admire the views - something to suit everyone.

The Smithy was a Weaver and Dyers Mill until the 19th Century, from then it became Walter Savage Landor's forge. The property was the winner of the Traditional Homes/ Period Living Renovation Award.

Kitchen

A country kitchen with a microwave oven, gas hob, fridge, freezer, washing machine.

A lovely refectory table and chairs to sit and admire the garden and a beautiful Welsh Dresser.

The sitting room is delightful, both elegant and cosy with a beautiful bottle-kiln chimney and a large open hearth fireplace.

The Smithy does not have a TV or Wifi but visitors arrive and always find they can really relax and enjoy the digital detox.The owners leave a good selection of games and books. Relax in comfortable sofas and chairs. The cottage has some beautiful pieces of antique furniture and a wonderful Grand Piano, more a piece of beautiful furniture but for true pianists it has recently been tuned. (12/3/19).

Stairs up to the three bedrooms all are attractively furnished - the furnishings and linen enhancing the character of the bedrooms.

Bedroom 3: Twin bedroom - 2ft 6in beds so possible best for children.

Bathroom with bath, handbasin and toilet.

There is also an extra outside shower room - remember to bring your dressing gown.

Electricity and full oil central heating.Logs suppliedOne well behaved petShort breaks welcome.The cottage, set in one acre, has a very attractive wild garden with several sitting areas, one by the river which skirts the paddock, and one under a covered patio.There is a small stretch of trout fishing on the River Honddu and plenty of space for children to play, boules pitch and BBQ. The owners live in the attached Forge but in no way encroach on the privacy of the cottage or its gardens and will willingly babysit.

Abergavenny 12 miles, Hay-on-Wye 15 miles.
