This magnificent detached country house, built in 1862 is set in a most enviable position amongst beautiful woodlands on High Lindeth Fell just a mile from Bowness-on-Windermere. The country house has been refurbished to a very high standard and is set in its own grounds with beautiful southerly and westerly views of the Lakeland fells. The grounds afford all visitors peace and relaxation, with mature trees, firs, bracken and the surrounding fells all on display. This is a great place for family and friends to get away from it all, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the very special qualities of this premier holiday home. The Oaks was completely renovated in 2017, with no expense spared in re-creating the past glories of this exceptional imposing property. There are modern installations throughout and a wonderful blend of the original features, such as the beautiful main staircase, the mullioned windows and the old pantry, seamlessly integrated with more modern and contemporary styling. A well thought out layout provides something for everyone, a main leisure suite offers a great place to relax and unwind with a lovely seating area boasting pleasant views, pool table and a fabulous sauna to soak away the aches and pains. Outside, the property has a private elevated patio area with two hot tubs that provide the perfect location to sit, relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. Featuring a main living room with cosy seating areas, a stylish drawing room with comfortable window seats, a warm wood-burning stove and the clever use of connecting doors that offer flexibility to use both rooms together. The spacious dining room overlooks a flat lawned area with captivating views out across the grounds and rolling hills to the south, with direct links through to the magnificent kitchen. The kitchen boasts a central island, a range of modern contemporary fittings and a pleasing snug area to relax and enjoy a cold drink from the wine cooler. A separate TV lounge provides a great place for the children and smaller groups to break out and provide some peace and quiet. There are two spacious ground floor bedrooms, both with ensuite facilities and one room designed specifically for wheelchair access, making it the perfect choice for anyone with limited mobility. A useful entrance hall with cloakroom, two separate toilets, a pantry, washing and drying room all go together to provide everything a large group will need. Two separate sets of stairs offer access the first floor, where there are ten impeccably designed bedrooms, eight with ensuite facilities and the majority with wonderful views onto the garden and woodland areas. A spacious master bedroom, modern house bathroom and a well laid out family room with sofa bed. Outside, there is a spacious parking area, formal and wild gardens and a lovely lawned area to enjoy a picnic whilst admiring the special surroundings and catching the odd siting of the local wildlife, including the occasional deer. Less than a mile away is the wonderful and charming Windermere Golf Club, a most welcoming club. A short walk takes guests down to the lake ferry where a short 'cruise' gives access to the far shores of Hawkshead, famous Coniston with the magnificent peaks of Wetherlam and the Old Man of Coniston to name but a few, as well as the magical Tarn Hows area. All the facilities of Bowness-on-Windermere are a short drive or a good walk from the Oaks, including a wide range of attractions for all ages, ranging from Peter Rabbit to hand-made chocolate shop and the wonderful walks along the Bowness promenade where the many cruise ships run down the lake to Ambleside and Newby Bridge. Discover picturesque local walks along footpaths bordering the site, including the Dales Way which runs by the Golf Club and Crook and Staveley and for the more adventurous walks across to Cartmel Fell. There is a leisurely family walk directly from the site to the nearby Brant Fell, which provides stunning views over Lake Windermere and its surrounding fells, including the Langdales and Crinkle Crags which offer harder challenges to the more adventurous walkers.
