This old stone farmhouse originally dates from the early 1800s with its great stone fireplace, oak beams and stone walls; the house is only a couple of miles from Crickhowell and is reached down a track across a field, the track is level and suitable for all vehicles. The house and outbuilding are set on their own, in several acres of water meadows with sheep grazing with a stream running through the fields. The farmhouse and barn can be used together wish to holiday together with a bit of their own space, ideal for two families or perhaps grand parents.

Cottage accommodation

Sleeps 7/8 - 4 bedrooms, cot and high chair. A comfortable and well designed kitchen with hand built wooden units and a large work space between the kitchen and the dining area, so plenty of room to chat sociably while preparing a meal. There is a Belfast sink,double electric oven, a halogen hob, fridge,dishwasher, microwave, and plenty of work and storage space. A utility room, with a washing machine, tumble dryer and a fridge/ freezer. A large hallway, where the back door leads out to the garden and room for muddy boots and coats. The dining area has a quarry stone tiled floor, a pine dining table and chairs and an attractive and efficient woodburning stove. The sitting room again has a large and very efficient woodburning stove, great oak beams giving the room a wealth of character, a 3 seater leather sofa, 2 seater fabric sofa and a fabric armchair, Smart TV with basic SKY Freeview package. There is a good selection of childrens toys, jigsaws, videos and outdoor cricket and croquet.

Downstairs

Bedroom 1: double bed with patio doors leading out to a small courtyard.

A separate downstairs shower room with a power shower, handbasin and toilet.

Up a flight of attractive but fairly steep wrought iron spiral stairs - probably not suitable for everyone,

Bedroom 2: master bedroom has a double bed, the most lovely views up the valley to wake up to, an en suite large deep bath, handbasin and toilet.

Bedroom 3: double bed overlooking the valley.

Bedroom 4: two single beds.

A family bathroom with bath, toilet and handbasin.

Useful information

Outdoor activities - The hillside behind the cottage is a SSSI called Craig-y-Cilliau and attracts a wealth of wildlife with woodpeckers, buzzards, sparrow hawks and peregrine falcons to name a few birds. The caves of Agen Allwedd are higher up the hillside and very popular with cavers. (Access to the caves is with a key from the Caving Association). The River Usk is easily accessible in Crickhowell, the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal runs close to the farm and there is the historic old tram line now a designated foot path. This cottage is ideal for walking and cycling with foot paths right from the door. Also lovely spot for complete peace and quiet being well off any road and yet being within easy reach of the villages of Llangattock and Crickhowell with its good supply of shops, pubs and restaurants.

Llangattock 1 mile (10 min walk). Crickhowell 2 miles (30 min walk).
