Within the town you will find plenty of shops, eateries, pubs, a cinema, swimming pool, museums and art galleries. There are excellent train links to the city of Glasgow with museums, gardens, art galleries, superb shopping, restaurants, entertainment and night life. There are good ferry links to the islands of Bute, Cumbrae and Arran, and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is within easy reach. Take a ferry over to Dunoon and explore the Cowal Peninsula, known as Argyll’s secret coast. Visit the Greenock Cut Centre, listed as one of the top 50 walks in Scotland, for spectacular views over the Firth of Clyde, or take a cruise around the Clyde and Kyles of Bute. Head south into Ayrshire with its varying coastline with villages, beaches and rocky coves to explore, with Skelmorlie heralding the start of the Ayrshire Coastal Path, a 100 mile long coastal walk. Inland there is walking, cycling, gardens and castles to visit, as well as riding, fishing, racing and a choice of golf courses, including the world famous open venues of Troon, Prestwick and Turnberry. Beach 300 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
