The house is situated in the crofting township of North Tolsta, just a short drive from the town of Stornoway which has much to offer, including shops, restaurants, a leisure centre, golf course, An Lanntair, an art centre and cultural venue, and the Museum nan Eilean at Lews Castle, which has fabulous grounds and woodland walks. Only minutes from the pristine sandy beach of Tolsta, and a short drive from Traigh Mhor, one of the premier beaches on the island. Additionally, there is a good walk over the ‘bridge to nowhere’ along the coast. The bridge, sometimes known as Garry Bridge, was one of Lord Leverhulme’s failed plans to extend the road all the way to Ness.

Enjoy days out visiting historical sites such as the Callanish Stones, Carloway Broch, Ness Heritage Centre, Bosta and Great Bernera, and Blackhouse Village, or just enjoy the pristine sandy beaches on the west coast, including Uig Bay where the famous Lewis Chessmen were found.

There is an abundance of wildlife, and the area is a birdwatcher’s paradise. For fishermen, loch and sea angling can also be found nearby. Boat trips depart from Stornoway, Uig and Great Bernera for whale/dolphin watching, and also further afield to the Shiants and St. Kilda. The area has so much to offer, so come, explore and enjoy. Beach ½ mile. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 11 miles.
