Three Cliffs BayThree Cliffs is one of Gowers' most picturesque beaches, and it's not hard to see why. The valley leading down to the sea complete with castle, the salt marshes and the sand dunes, and the three cliffs themselves makes this destination unique. The cliffs are popular with climbers, and what a location, you can actually walk underneath the cliffs through an archway. There are stepping stones to cross the river on the Penmaen side of the bay (west), but watch the tide to get back. The beach has a seasonal lifeguard station, please take care with children and dogs. Gower Heritage CentreVisitor Centre and Rural Life Museum set in the grounds of a 12th century water mill. Lots of family entertainment including craft activities, craft shops, games arcade, animal park, sandpit, adventure playground, soft play, tractor play area and Wales smallest cinema. Family friendly events are hosted throughout the year. The Gower Inn, ParkmillCross the road and take the short stroll up river to this family classic pub serving honest pub fare and seasonal menus. Enjoy a sunny jar on the terrace listening to the river babble along. Mumbles Lifeboat Station The Mumbles Lifeboat Station has a remarkable history of bravery stretching over 170 years. It's crews have been presented with 33 awards for gallantry. The station has also witnessed tragedy with 18 lifeboat crew losing their lives saving others at sea. A humbling place to visit! The new lifeboat station completed in 2014 sits alongside the original building, now preserved in remembrance of all those who lost their lives at sea. Rhossili Beach and Worms HeadJourney out along one of Wales's most iconic cliff walks with breathtaking views of the golden sand of Rhossili to the rugged limestone rocks of the south Gower coast. Stop off on your return for lunch at The Bay Bistro. A simply stunning view from every table of beautiful Rhossili Beach and home made treats. If the tide is out you will even see the bones of The Helvicta wreck reaching out through the sands. Restored by your lunch take the challenging walk to the highest point on Gower and a descent onto one of the most iconic beaches in Wales. Burial chambers, radar stations and shipwrecks are only some of the highlights you will pass along the way. Watch the surfers ride the waves. If you fancy a lesson head over to Llangenith and Ask PJ at his Surf Shop, he will fit you out with all you need to get up and riding. Bay RiderA family favourite this is a super land train that runs between Southend Gardens in Mumbles and the Blackpill Lido on bank holidays and throughout the summer. Perriswood Archery and Falconry CentreEnjoy a range of activities close to Oxwich beach. Experience archery sessions indoors or out (suitable for those of 6 years and older). This centre is a must for bird lovers too with 38 birds of prey on display and opportunities for meeting and holding some of them. Swansea MarketVisit Swansea Market for authentic Welsh delicacies. Pembrey country Park (1 hour drive)200 acres of fabulous parkland with waterside paths and cycle trails, adventure playgrounds, family activities, toboggan run, dry ski slope, horse riding, Go Ape tree top course, pitch and put golf, cafes and lots more. Angel Falls, NeathTear yourself away from the stunning coastline and head inland and you will be rewarded by the magnificent waterfall walk. Pontneddfechan Falls are beautiful and the trail at just over 9 miles is a challenge but well worth the memories is will give you. Pembrey Country ParkDiscover 200 acres of natural wonderland brimming with exciting activities. Walking, cycling, horse riding, tobogganing, skiing, Go Ape treetop adventures, pitch and put golf and lots more. Visit the cafe for refreshments or enjoy a picnic in the park.
