Various paths are accessed via coin-operated turnstiles that lead down to either side of the bridges. The longest, steepest path goes right down to the valley floor giving wonderful views of spectacular cascading waterfalls and crossing the raging torrent before climbing back all the way up the other side. There is a range of walking and mountain-biking trails, Visitor Centre and café. The Hafod EstateTravel a little further inland to the Hafod Estate in the Ystwyth Valley. Recognised as one of the finest examples in Europe of a ‘Picturesque’ landscape (an ideal which was part of the 18th Century Romantic Movement), this has been renovated and conserved and won an award for the Restoration of a Georgian Landscape in 2007. If you enjoy walking this is a joy. The estate contains a number of laid-out paths which you can walk alone or with a guide. There are waterfalls, a narrow suspension bridge over a gorge, an obelisk built in 1805, narrow wooded valleys, open parkland, rushing streams and an alpine bridge. Amongst all of these is a huge variety of wildlife. AberystwythJust a 15 minute drive away is the vibrant university town of Aberystwyth. Home to the National Library of Wales where you can visit the Art Centre and Theatre with its year-round programme of events. Aberystwyth nestles between 3 hills and has 2 beaches with a wide, sweeping promenade overlooked by Victorian and Georgian buildings. There is also a pier and harbour as well as castle ruins.A visit to the Ceredigion Museum on the high street is a must!Try a ride on the longest electric cliff railway in Britain climbing to the top of Constitution Hill. There is a fantastic panoramic view, a 'Camera Obscura' and a café for a little refreshment. BorthA small seaside village with a long sand and shingle beach, popular with families and surfers alike. At the southern end of the beach, you can sometimes see ancient remains of a submerged forest. Borth Animalarium is a zoo in miniature - home to a mixture of exotic and unusual animals such as monkeys, wallabies, snakes and crocodiles and also some more domestic animals that visitors are able to pet and feed. Aberaeron Harbour Town Aberaeron is a Georgian jewel with elegant colour-washed houses surrounding the harbor. There is a range of small, interesting shops, craft centres, pubs and the award winning Harbourmaster' s Restaurant (Good Food Guide and Gold Award, Wales). Visit The Hive on the Quay, famous for its honey ice cream!Cardigan Bay Marine Heritage Coast Cardigan Bay has its own pod of resident dolphins and taking a boat trip to see them from either Aberaeron or New Quay - as well as seeing lots of other marine and wild life - is a real treat.
