Squirrel’s Tale Cottage is situated in a wonderful, elevated position in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, and enjoys striking views across the countryside towards the lush Strathspey Valley, River Spey and the majestic Cairngorm Mountains. This lovely property forms a wing of the owners’ Arts & Crafts Grade B listed Broomhill House. It is accessed by a forest drive and nestles amongst 25 acres of private, unspoilt woodlands and well-maintained cottage garden, where you can watch the playful red squirrels and an abundance of rare birdlife, such as golden eagle and osprey. This country cottage makes a perfect base for exploring this lovely part of the Highlands. Excellent mountain biking, canoeing, bird watching, climbing, skiing and infinite hiking trails (easy and strenuous) are all available from the doorstep. There are popular and challenging golf courses, classic car events and some of the world’s famous malt whisky distilleries within easy reach.
Enjoy fly fishing on the River Spey, or for the younger members, visit the Reindeer Visitor Centre, Tree Zone, Landmark Forest Adventure Park or take a trip on the steam train from Broomhill to Aviemore. All towns and villages of the National Park have retained their identity and offer a range of independent stores, art galleries, museums, coffee shops and restaurants. Inverness, the Highland capital, is less than an hour’s drive and offers flights to Amsterdam and all major cities in the UK.
