A haven for wildlife, Cumbrae attracts migrant birds from around the world and the flora of the island is equally varied with a visit to the island’s Marine Research Station with the museum and aquarium a must. Millport is also home to one of Europe’s smallest cathedrals and Britain’s narrowest house. An ideal location for cycling, walking and golf, and also the National Watersports Centre which offers courses to cover all water based activities. The main Newton Bay offers sheltered anchorages and secure moorings. Fly fishing is available in two nearby reservoirs (at cost, licence required). Beach 300 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.
