Winster Hall, Winster

Peak District. Sleeps up to 16

A stunning Grade II listed country house, built by Francis Moore in 1628, set in its own beautiful grounds in the middle of the conservation village of Winster, in the Peak District National Park. Occupied by the Moore family in the 17th century, the Hall later became a Coaching House and Inn, and in the 19th century, Llewellyn Jewitt, a local antiquary, occupied the Hall and his gravestone can be found in the local church cemetery. Set over three floors, the Hall stands back from the main street behind the original stone-built gateway. As befits a country home of this grandeur, the building is full of rich history, character and charm, and provides ideal holiday accommodation for friends and family to get away from it all and enjoy this majestic and historic home. This superb Derbyshire holiday home boasts many original features including quoins, a cornice topped by a parapet, a beautiful balustrade, ornate ceilings and beautiful fireplaces. Providing spacious accommodation, the ground floor offers a spacious dining room with a cosy sitting area with a large wood burning stove and a beautiful hand-painted ceiling. The spacious, adjoining kitchen is well equipped and leads to a delightful conservatory area, great for dining in the summer, while a ground floor bedroom provides flexibility for the less able guests in the party. The wide, elegant staircase leads to the first floor, where there are two spacious bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms and one with a romantic four poster bed. The wonderful first floor sitting room is one of the real jewels in the crown; with feature windows on two sides providing a bright and spacious feel, as well as interesting views of the main high street, it provides a perfect space to relax and unwind, enjoy a family film or get out the board games. The top floor of this wonderful Derbyshire holiday home boasts a further four bedrooms, including a stunning master bedroom with king-size four poster bed. This wonderful Derbyshire home has the added benefit of a walled garden, formal gardens and a delightful courtyard; spend some time over breakfast in the courtyard area as you plan the day’s activities. The large summerhouse contains the various games on offer to add to your enjoyment of the garden. The conservation village of Winster boasts a well-stocked village shop and cafe as well as two excellent pubs, and is home to a 17th century Market House which is owned by the National Trust. Matlock, Bakewell and Chatsworth House are close by, as well as magnificent walks from the doorstep. Experience country living at its finest in this truly wonderful holiday home.
