Ty Derw Cottage, Near Aberaeron

Ceredigion. Sleeps up to 4

This modern cottage is well equiped and cosy, and is a great place for both young families and couples to stay while discovering the delights of the largely undiscovered county of Ceredigion. The location of the cottage is rural, and therefore a car is advised, but local amenities are just a short drive away, in the very attractive Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron.

The cottage is one of a group of similar properties, and is surrouded by large lawns, which makes it a great place for kids to play. To the front of the property is a decked area where guests can relax and enjoy the country air, and watch the red kites circling overhead. Inside hardwood flooring runs throughout most of the cottage, and all the rooms are comfortable and well heated.

The estate of Tyglyn Vale is surrounded by gorgeous, rolling countryside, and is only a 10 minute stroll to the 'Secret Garden', which is a walled garden tended by local gardeners. Here, visitors are able to leave a nominal payment in exchange for fresh garden produce when in season, and the well kempt lawns and borders make it the ideal place for quiet relaxation, orfor a picnic. There is also a small play area here for younger children, and best of all, a visit to this magical place is free.

From Tyglyn Vale there is a short foot path directly to the Tyglyn Country Hotel where guests can enjoy delicious food, accompanied by a cool drink, and so there is no need to take the car. Further afield, the town of Aberaeron has a good selection of restaurants, bars, and local shops, while New Quay, with it's sandy beaches, is only a few miles to the south.
