Set in Swan Green, just outside the peaceful village of Lyndhurst, within the magnificent New Forest National Park, is Oakapple Cottage, an 18th-century detached property, ideal for a large family or friends gathering in Hampshire, with the coast and picturesque countryside of the national park both within easy reach. Originally Swan Green Tea Rooms, the property was formerly a café owned by the Dalton family, popular with walkers and coaches, with an emphasis on the care of coach drivers. The café was a great little spot to refresh and enjoy the countryside air, and it is still a place for holidaying folks to recline after exploring the local area, without the café of course, but instead with a tasteful space for guests to stay. Arriving at the property, there is parking for three cars on the spacious driveway, so unloading your belongings couldn’t be easier. Unwind with a glass of wine and your favourite book in the homely and contemporary sitting room, which features a beautiful period cast iron fireplace as its centrepiece and opens into the snug, where you can relax and enjoy the glow of the warming woodburning stove. The designated chef will have all they need to prepare delicious home-cooked meals in the generous kitchen, as well as a handy dishwasher making cleaning up less of a chore! Guests will also benefit from a shower room on this floor, perfect for freshening up after a day of activities and adventure. Travelling up to the first-floor, you will discover one of four bedrooms, the first being the delightful master bedroom which is its own private haven, with incredible beams spanning the vaulted ceiling, cast iron fireplace, and a beautiful bay window, it is perfect for when sleep calls. Moving through the property, you will find an additional three bedrooms, a plentiful double, a triple bunk with a trundle bed, and a final twin, ensuring flexible sleeping arrangements for all parties and children. Pour in the bubbles and enjoy a soothing soak in the roll-top bath before drifting off to a refreshing night’s embrace in your choice of bedroom. Step outside and enjoy your morning coffee whilst walking around the whimsical and ample garden, with a charming brick pathway. Once frequented throughout the centuries by kings and queens, the delightful village of Lyndhurst is bathed in rich history and is known as the capital of the New Forest National Park. Easily accessible via a road or wide footpath, strolling through the town will allow you to feel a part of the town’s history with its charming Tudor-style buildings and wide selection of pubs, restaurants, shops and independent boutiques, ensuring you have everything you could need during your stay in Hampshire. After a long day of adventures, leave the cooking and treat yourself to a delicious meal at The Swan Inn, situated just across the road from Oakapple Cottage, where you can treat yourself to a well-deserved tipple in the dog-friendly pub, which occasionally hosts live entertainment. For those who have remembered their clubs, Oakapple Cottage is ideally located just a short drive away from The New Forest Golf course, the second oldest in Hampshire, where you can enjoy a game right in the heart of the New Forest National Park. Lyndhurst is renowned for one of its residents in particular, Alice Pleasance Liddell, who was the inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s timeless classic of ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’.
