The Vines, Southerndown

Vale of Glamorgan. Sleeps up to 12

Find the attractive Edwardian house of The Vines nestled amidst the endearing village of Southerndown, offering a countryside position, which adjoins the Heritage Coastline with Dunraven Bay resting just moments away. This handsome property rests in one of the most sought-after locations within the Vale of Glamorgan and its interior enjoys a seamless blend of character and contemporary, offering an exceptional self-catering experience for up to 12 people. Upon entering into the property, step into the entrance hallway before slipping through the door on the right to find the first sitting room, a high ceilinged space looking to the front elevation with period woodblock flooring, large sash windows and a woodburning stove set within a traditional hearth; the focal point of this room. Return to the hallway and take the second door to find another sitting room, a space where you can unwind with a good book or younger guests of the group can escape to, to catch up on the latest box set. Next is the kitchen/diner, a perfectly proportioned room featuring a large dining table, all the quality modern appliances one would expect and a sleek breakfast bar, where you can linger over a wine as dinner simmers on the hob. From here, slip through the door to discover the utility, a space which works in synergy with the kitchen, housing a microwave, a fridge, laundry equipment and plenty of space to keep the kitchen clutter free for the chef of the group at the end of the first course! Take the grand staircase as the evening draws to a close, to find five elegantly presented bedrooms, the master suite notable for its sumptuous king-size bed and modern en-suite. Bedroom two is a large space with another king-size bed and walk-in wardrobe, whilst bedroom three offers a double bed. The remaining bedrooms consist of a double bedroom and a quadruple bunkroom, allowing for a flexible sleeping arrangement and have use of the family bathroom, featuring a bath and a separate walk-in shower. To the exterior of the Edwardian home is an off-road parking space, as well as a gated entrance, which grants access to the garden, enjoying a southerly aspect, a lawn area and a patio area with an outdoor dining area. Better acquaint yourself with the village further, home to an ever-popular restaurant, ‘Frolics’ and a pub, as well as access to the beach of Dunraven Bay, promising to be a great opportunity for fossil hunting, rock pooling, surfing or simply soaking up the sunshine from the soft sands. Avid ramblers can take to the coastal path to uncover further breath-taking vistas or you could brush up on the local history by visiting the Dunraven Castle ruins and walled gardens. Within the local area there are an abundance of golf courses, including the Royal Porthcawl, St. Mary Hill and nearby Southerndown Course, whilst the neighbouring village of f St. Brides Major has a shop for picking up any essentials. Beachcombers can venture further afield to explore the delights of Merthyr Mawr near Porthcawl or travel further afield to the iconic beach resort of Barry Island for a traditional day out by the sea. The capital city of Cardiff is well-worth exploring too, home to Cardiff Castle, The National Museum and a number of great dining and shopping opportunities. Alternatively, stay close to home and visit the Porthcawl Lighthouse, The Swing Bridge in Bridgend, Wiggleys Fun Farm and Bryngarw Country Park. For a fun-filled getaway, bring your loved ones to The Vine.
