Cottage in North Yorkshire, Staithes

North York Moors. Sleeps up to 6

Staithes is an old fishing village which has a unique charm. Its cobbled streets and higgledy piddledy cottages cling to the hillside overlooking the stunning shoreline. For those interested in art, geology and exploring the outdoors, Staithes is the perfect getaway. The village is on the Cleveland Way offering cliff top walks with stunning views. Being so characterful Staithes has been the location of the several TV shows including the popular BBC children s TV series, Old Jack s Boat. The Staithes Heritage Centre Museum is also well worth a visit, with its exhibits and information on Captain Cook, who lived in the village as a young man. The cottage is only 100m from the sheltered harbour with its small sandy beach. Low tide reveals vast areas of rocky seabed which can be explored on foot. This charming, mid terraced Grade II listed property offers spacious accommodation and a wealth of original features . A small entrance vestibule opens into an open plan kitchen/diner, a great social space to gather together with friends and family. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, two fridges, dishwasher and washing machine. A set of stairs takes you down to a cosy lounge on the lower ground floor, equipped with a TV/DVD and chromecast. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one double and one bunk room, together with a bathroom with shower over bath and separate WC. Another set of stairs leads to the second floor with the master bedroom which has a king sized bed, an en suite shower and WC and sea views. There is a small enclosed backyard and a bench outside the front door, but no other outside space. Luggage can be unloaded at the front door, but cars must be parked in one of the public or private car parks at the top of the old village.
