Cottage in Argyll and Bute, Oban

Argyll. Sleeps up to 4

What could be better than waking in your own baronial apartment, far from the madding crowd on the ravishing west coast of Scotland. The name of this sublime old house means Sea Meadow', and gazing out from your rooms, you and your family or friends will see why. Oban, the town dubbed Gateway to the Isles', boasts a plethora of festivals and ceilidhs, attracting bagpipers, Highland dancers, musicians and singers from across the world. Daily boat trips visit the surrounding islands and offer excellent views of seals, dolphins and the occasional whale. Ferries from Oban link with Mull and other islands in the Inner Hebrides. You can tour the ten whisky distilleries of Islay and Jura, and find the secluded cottage where George Orwell wrote 1984. Discover the holy island of Iona, and the moody ruins of Gylen Castle on Kerrera. This exquisite house epitomises the beauty and true romance of Scotland. Immerse yourself in the baronial majesty of the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with its high ceiling, decorative cornicing and burnished oak floor. Prepare sumptuous local seafood in the state of the art kitchen, and savour unrivalled flavours in the spectacular, turreted dining room, surrounded by sunset views of Kerrera and Oban Bay. As darkness falls, gather with Islay malt around the glowing open fire; reminisce on Oban odysseys of wondrous wildlife and island delights, or plan your next amazing adventure. Jump into a steaming shower before heading to bed; the master king size bedroom has a wonderful en suite with walk in shower, and the former orangery's king size bedroom has access to a shower room and glorious tall windows for maximising the splendid views from your bed. Outside is also simply breathtaking. Fling open the French doors to the small, private terraced garden and follow the steps down to the communal garden, shielded by a castellated sea wall. It's simply magnificent and a fine chance in to drink in the sheer raw beauty of Scotland.
