Cottage in Isle of Wight, Shanklin

Isle of Wight. Sleeps up to 9

There s nothing better than getting away from it all with your nearest and dearest. This spectacular eighteenth century cottage is situated in a quiet, leafy lane in gorgeous countryside on the outskirts of Shanklin. It s a fabulous cycling and walking area. You can stomp along the bridleway to Shanklin s sandy beach or ramble across the fields and downs to Ventnor for panoramic views across Sandown Bay. If you prefer life on four wheels, the shops and seaside restaurants of Shanklin are a short drive away. The pretty village of Godshill with its welcoming pub and tearooms is also close and worth a visit. Not that you need to stray far from the property, of course. This impressive cottage has everything you need for an enjoyable stay and a spectacular home away from home. The cottage is built from island stone and originally formed part of a manor house evidenced by the large rooms that await you and your guests. The ground floor comprises an open plan kitchen/diner with limestone tiled floor. You ll find all the bits you need to rustle up something tasty: a range cooker, microwave and fridge, freezer as well as a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. When it s time for food, sit down together in the charming dining area with views across the garden. The lovely lounge is the perfect place for a cosy evening in, complete with large sofas and arm chairs, TV/DVD and wood burner. A second lounge area has a sofa, chair and a TV/DVD. Take your pick! You will also find a ground floor WC. The elegant staircase leads to four fantastic bedrooms each with garden views. The master bedroom has a king size bed and en suite bathroom with shower over the bath. There s another king size bed in the second bedroom, a lovely twin bedroom and a triple bedroom with bunk bed, high level cabin bed and en suite shower room with shower and WC. In addition, there s a bathroom with WC. If the inside of the cottage sparkles, the outside startles. The expansive gardens feature sunny terraces, large lawns, open shrubberies and even a rippling stream, it's a wonderful place to relax. Please be aware that the stream in the garden is unfenced, so children do need to be closely supervised and access is not permitted over the stream. There s an endearing stone terrace with garden furniture and a BBQ, ideal for al fresco dining on a sunny summer s evening. You will even find sun loungers if you fancy relaxing with a good book in the sunshine. Bringing a car? There s private parking space for several vehicles in the drive outside of the cottage.
