The Old Millhouse is a listed stone building dating back to 1703 which underwent a thorough sympathetic restoration beginning in 2012, blending traditional materials and antique furnishings with modern design and décor to create a truly enchanting blend of old and new. Enjoy the property’s classic historic charm without sacrificing contemporary conveniences, with the house including Wi-Fi throughout as well as a Sonos sound system.

Every bedroom in the Old Millhouse has its own en-suite bathroom, which includes complimentary toiletries from the Scottish Fine Soaps Company, fluffy white bathrobes and towels, slippers, and a hairdryer.

Ground Floor

On the ground floor of the Old Millhouse, you’ll find plenty of room to relax and socialise, including a spectacular sunroom with large windows on three sides, providing plenty of natural light and magnificent views of the gardens. First Floor

The first floor features a gorgeous drawing room with a functioning fireplace as well as a wall-mounted TV which is cleverly hidden so as not to intrude on the atmosphere. Warm up in front of the fire, take in the sights from the window seats, or keep yourself entertained with shows or movies.

Also on this floor is the Millers Room, a cosy bedroom with a super king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom containing a rain shower over a bath, as well as a comfortable heated floor.

Second Floor

On the second floor you’ll find two more bedrooms, the Pentland Room and the Esk Room.

The Esk Room is the Old Millhouse’s master suite, a luxurious bedroom with a super king-size bed and superb views from the front of the house to the gardens, as well as an en-suite bathroom with a roll-top bath, a walk-in rain shower, a bidet, and heated floors.

The Pentland Room contains two comfortable beds which can be combined into a single super king-size bed if desired. Its en-suite bathroom has a walk-in rain shower and a heated floor.

Third Floor

The third floor is located at the top of the house and boasts two loft bedrooms, the Toile de Jour Room and the Dalkeith Room.

The Toile de Jour Room is a fantastic French-style loft bedroom with a luxurious, super king-size bed and a charming en-suite bathroom with a shower.

The Dalkeith Room is the second loft bedroom and really shows off how high up you are, with a view out into the plum cherry trees. It features two cosy beds that can be joined into a super king-size luxury bed if required, as well as an en-suite bathroom with a shower.

Gardens

The Old Millhouse has 3.5 acres of glorious gardens to enjoy, with the River Esk running through them and only adding to the idyllic ambience. Take a relaxing stroll through the woodland scenery and open lawns, the perfect setting to unwind. The terrace makes an ideal place to relax in the sun, with gorgeous views across the gardens, tree and river bank. And of course there's the luxurious hydro pool swim spa, perfect for hot tub lovers, which is perfect for unwinding in the warm water or following your morning exercise routine.

Hens roam the grounds of the Old Millhouse and provide fresh eggs for breakfast, which you can collect for yourself if you wish. If you’d like to try fishing the River Esk, which is host to sea trout and sometimes salmon, this can be arranged at a cost of £25.00 per person, with lessons also available – please get in touch for more details.
