Pen-yr-Heol Barn sleeping 10 guests is a secluded and remote spacious barn, perfect for a group of friends and families. The perfect weekend getaway. For hill walking or mountain biking the location is unbeatable with fantastic walking straight from the door to the Peaks of The Brecon Beacons. Great for children, with the enclosed terrace area or play area.

The barn is also suitable for less able visitors using a wheelchair.

There's plenty to do while you're here - walking or biking (bring your own or have them delivered). Try seeing the mountains from horse back with Cantref Pony Trekking Centre, children old and young love visiting Cantref Childrens Adventure Farm just a mile down the lane where they can pet and handle animals, and it's only 5 miles to Brecon downhill!

Barn Accommodation

There is a large and very socialiable downstairs kitchen and sitting room.

A Shaker-style kitchen with an electric Range cooker with double ovens and five ring hob; a microwave, dishwasher, American style large fridge/freezer. Washng up is a pleasure with a double sink with the most fantastic view that goes on for miles down the valley and over to the Black Mountains. Plenty of space for everyone and all you need for cooking a special meal for a large group.

Enjoy long leisurely meals all together at the long antique oak refectory table and oak dining chairs; there are some fine original oak beams and a lovely terracotta flooring throughout. French windows make the best of the views, built with locally sourced oak are on eitherside of this large living space, open out onto the front and back terraces - theses are perfect for an outdoor breakfast or evening drink to catch the sun. The comfy sitting areahas ample sofas and chairs, large TV with Sky, DVD, WIFI and B/T Vision.

Enjoy sitting around the large woodburning stove with a really generous supply of logs.

To give the adults a bit of peace and quiet there is a children's playing area in a separate room with a sofa, a smaller TV with t-in DVD, books and toys.

For anyone who may have been out walking a very handy Drying Room with a washing machine and space for hanging wet clothes and storing walking boots etc.

Master Bedroom 1: A double bed, tastefully furnished with antique furniture and oak floor with rugs and wonderful views and an en-suite bathroom with bath, toilet and handbasin.

Bedroom 2: A bedroom with twin beds - an oak stable door leads from here to the patio.

Two downstairs shower rooms, the first is adapted for visitors who are less able with an excellent power shower, toilet and handbasin.

The second is a walk-in wet room with power shower.

A further downstairs toilet and handbasin.

Upstairs to

Bedroom 3: a large spacious bedroom with four single beds, two of which can be joined to make a double bed therefore making one double and two singles, large windows and again the most wonderful views over the hills and valley.

Bedroom 4: A King sized bed - (if required can be made into two 3ft single beds) lovely old exposed beams and once again windows with super views up the mountainside.

There is a separate toilet upstairs with a handbasin. Two extra fold-up beds are available on request.

Useful information

Good quality bedlinen and towels provided. All electricity,heating and wood inclusive. Full oil, under floor heating downstairs and central heating upstairs. Ample parking for several cars. Pets welcome. Visitors are asked to smoke outside the house. Enclosed child friendly stone patio area behind barn with BBQ and garden furniture.There is a lawn ideal for BBQs and meals outside and general relaxation. The surrounding fields with wood and waterfalls are great for children to roam freely and visitors can also use the surrounding fields for football etc (please be aware there may sometimes be livestock in these fields). Cot and high chair available. Mobile phone reception good.Short breaks welcome. Can also be used with The Old Toolshed and Llwyn Y Fron

Splendid isolation

Pen-Yr-Heol Barn lies half a mile above Pentwyn farm, a 300-acre hill farm with 600 sheep and cows. This has been a family farm since 1966 and Thomas the owner is very friendly and helpful if anyone wants to walk or talk about the farm. Part of the Tir Gofal which protects the environment, enhances, restores and creates natural habitats and landscape features. There are several areas of broadleaf woodland and a designated SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) alongside the Nant Menascin River which runs down the valley.

This barn offers complete seclusion in a truly wonderful location with stunning views and miles of uninterrupted walking straight onto the Brecon Beacons. There is an abundance of wild life (including Red Kites, Peregrine Falcons, Merlins and Buzzards). At the top of the river there are waterfalls and pools for swimming and in springtime there is a wonderful bluebell wood.

This is fantastic riding country and three stables are available on the farm with grazing by arrangement with the owner. The owner is also happy to show visitors around the farm to look at the animals etc.

Llanfrynach 2 miles and Brecon 5 miles. Cantref Adventure Farm, 5 minutes drive away.
