The Mews House was formerly part of the stable block housing the carriages of Llanfoist House, once the residence of ironmaster Crawshay Bailey. A great base from which to explore the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains, the 'stone and steam' industrial heritage of South Wales valleys and the Brecon and Monmouth canal. The house is great for a family group with four en-suite double bedrooms. The bedrooms in The Mews House are all on various levels and the fourth is a lovely large secluded bedroom with separate dressing area and shower room.

Accomodation

Sleeping 8 - 4 Bedrooms 2 Super King, 1 Double, 1 Twin.

The spacious sitting room with lovely character beams and huge stone inglenook fireplace with gas fired multifuel style stove, comfy sofas, I-pod dock, CD player, flat screen TV with freeview.

The spacious dining room with a long dining table and chairs easily seating 8-10 people.

A very well equipped and easy to use kitchen with an electric cooker, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and a fridge/freezer.

Steps down to second sitting room/snug with two comfy armchairs and beautiful cast iron fireplace (not working). The ideal place to hide away and read a book, listen to music on the CD player or watch a film on the flat screen TV.

There is a Ground floor cloakroom - with toilet and washbasin.

Shower room on groundfloor - with shower, toilet and wash basin..

Bedroom 1: A double bedroom with dressing area featuring huge antique wardrobe and beautiful silk covered antique sofa (shabby chic style).

On the other side of The Mews House are the remaining bedrooms, 2 double rooms are on the first floor with a twin bedroom on the second floor - these rooms all have their own spacious bathrooms with lovely large, deep baths.

Bedroom 2: A super king sized bed with an en-suite shower over the bath, bidet, hand basin and toilet.

Bedroom 3: A super king sized bed with an en-suite shower over the bath, bidet, hand basin and toilet.

Bedroom 4: A twin bedded room with again a lovely spacious en-suite bathroom with a bath with a hand held shower over the bath, hand basin and toilet.

Downstairs and with separate entrance door, tiled floor and hanging cupboard perfect for storing outdoor gear.

Abergavenny 2 miles, Crickhowell 8 miles, Big Pit 5 miles Brynmawr and Ebbw Vale are about 8 miles.

The Mews House just outside the village of Llanfoist, is nestled at the foot of the Blorenge mountain and makes a great base for exploring the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Black Mountains. The property is just minutes from the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal which passes behind the house, great for walks along the tow path or hiring a boat for the day.

There is easy access to the Sustrans cycle network as it runs through Llanfoist, and many excellent cycling routes are available in the Usk and Wye valleys as well as the National Park.

Abergavenny is just 2 miles away with a thriving market and a regular Farmer's Market as well as the now world famous Abergavenny Food Festival. Monmouthshire has a plethora of pubs and restaurants serving locally sourced produce, the well known Michelin star Walnut Tree Inn is just a short drive outside Abergavenny. The Angel Hotel in the town is renowned for its award winning afternoon tea. There is an independent 2-screen cinema and thriving Borough Theatre which hosts a full program of both local and touring productions.

The ever popular small town of Crickhowell - often voted one of the best places to live is again just a few minutes' drive and has a great selection of local independent shops, pubs and restaurants.

Blaenavon UNESCO World Heritage Site is a short drive away and a fascinating reminder of the industrial importance of South Wales in the 19th century. Both Blaenavon Ironworks and Big Pit National Coal Museum are well worth a visit. The former colliery gives the chance to experience working conditions 90 metres underground, all vividly described and brought to life by the ex-miners who act as guides.

Llanfoist is well located for visiting The Welsh Valleys, Cardiff and Cardiff Bay. The Millenium Centre in Cardiff Bay and Millenium Stadium in the city centre host sporting fixtures and music concerts. The Bay has vibrant mix of cafes and art gallery's, there is a science discovery centre for children called Techniquest or for the inner child why not experience the Dr Who Tours and learn about the filming of recent series.
