Situated at the gateway to the Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) region of Waterford, this superb holiday home lies a minute’s walk from the award-winning, 17th-century thatched pub and restaurant where traditional Irish music and storytelling sessions are frequently held.
The surrounding area boasts stunning coastlines, ideal for walkers and bird watchers with clifftop trails, rolling hills and leafy glens. To visit the Gaeltacht is to experience a unique culture where signposts, shop names and business are conducted in Gaelic, a language which came with the migration westwards of the Celts from central Europe over 3,000 years ago. Further out on the peninsula is Helvick Head, famous for its angling and numerous sandy coves, and in close proximity are the beautiful sandy beaches of Clonea, Ardmore and Ballyquin.
For golfing enthusiasts there is the Golf Triangle in Dungarvan, 4 miles away, and for cyclists there are clearly defined tracks. Take a short journey to explore the majestic Comeragh Mountains, Waterford Greenway and Mahon Falls, or enjoy one of the many festivals throughout the year including West Waterford Festival of Food, Spraoi and Comeragh Challenge. Shop 6½ miles, pub and restaurant 50 yards.. Approximate distance to Cork airport is 72 km.
