With direct access to the bay for boating or fishing, this beautiful house is a haven of comfort, peace and tranquillity to relax in, and is also central for touring Donegal, known as having the longest coastline in Ireland at 767 miles.
You are close to the Inishowen and Fanad Peninsulas that offer dramatic cliffs on the north coast, which is one of the filming locations in Ireland for Game Of Thrones. Activities within a mile include Maghery Coastal Adventures, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, snorkelling, hillwalking and cycling. The quiet, friendly townland of Saltpans is a paradise for walkers, swimmers, fishermen, cyclists, painters and photographers. There are miles of sandy beaches, and close by is Mount Errigal, popular with walkers and hikers. Sliabh Liag, known as the highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe, is 35 miles away, reaching a height of 1,972 ft. There is a choice of golf courses at Cruit Island, Gweedore and Portnoo, or a pitch and putt course and tennis courts are available in Dungloe.
Dungloe is a few minutes’ drive away, and is a popular shopping and socialising centre. A host of local festivals take place each summer in the townlands of Annagry, Burtonport, and the renowned MacGill Summer School/Festival in Glenties. Dungloe is home to Donegal’s most famous son, Daniel O’Donnell, where the Kincasslagh Community Weekend takes place in July.
Attractions close to Dungloe include Glenveagh Castle, and Ionad Cois Locha, a great family centre which has a restored two-storey farmhouse, a farm museum, a large variety of animals, an adventure play area, a lake for supervised water activities and an all weather supervised play area. There are storytelling trips in a 50-seater boat with views of the double-peaked summit of Mount Errigal.
