The cottage is situated in a remote rural area on the edge of Crocknamurrin Mountain Bog, a Natural Heritage area and only a short drive from the heritage town of Ardara. This cottage is close to many beautiful deserted Atlantic beaches, traditional Irish pubs and some of the most spectacular scenery in western Europe. You can sit by a traditional turf fire in the evenings with a relaxing drink and really feel that you are in a hide-away from the world. The sun does not set until after 10pm in summer and to sit outside and experience the peace and tranquility on a long summer evening watching the sun set into the west is very special. On clear nights the stars are spectacular as there is no light pollution. The town of Ardara is only a few miles away through the glorious scenery of the Glengesh Pass and has many pubs and restaurants, and some enjoy fully deserved worldwide reputations for traditional music and craic.

A short drive takes you to Sliabh Liag, (Slieve League) a mountain on the Atlantic coast at 1,955 feet, with some of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. County Donegal has the longest coastline in Ireland at 772 miles so you are never far from the sea. Ardara was named Best Village in Ireland to live in by the Irish Times in a survey in June 2012, and one of the top 5 places (city, town, village) in the whole of Ireland! Nearby Bundoran is named in National Geographic’s top 20 surfing towns in the world. Shop, pub and restaurant 6 miles.. Approximate distance to Donegal airport is 53 km.
