Alnwick has a wide array of amenities including a cinema/playhouse, restaurants, independent shops and a variety of pubs. Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and film location for Harry Potter, is a popular visitor attraction. The picture postcard village of Alnmouth, with its wide expanse of golden sandy beach and a variety of good restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and gift shops, is just 6 miles away. Golf enthusiasts will delight in the two courses, one being a fine 9-hole course adjacent to the beach and the other a challenging 18-hole course at Foxton, enjoying panoramic views. Head 9 miles along the coastal path and you will find the village of Beadnell, popular for watersports enthusiasts and the magnificent Beadnell Bay. Visit Seahouses, a further 2 miles north, and take a boat trip to the Farne Islands to watch the puffins at play (seasonal). Bamburgh Castle is a further 3 miles up this stunning coastline and well worth a visit. The historic fishing village of Craster is approximately 4 miles away and is home to the world famous Craster kipper, and the atmospheric ruin of Dunstanburgh Castle is close by. With easy access to the beautiful 20-mile stretch of Northumberland Heritage Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and wild expanses of the heather-capped Cheviot Hills to the west, Murphy’s Cottage makes the perfect home from home.
