Lancombe Country Cottages are set in three acres of glorious Thomas Hardy country, in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in west Dorset, close to the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, including the Chesil Beach. The six holiday cottages converted from old barns are set around an attractive courtyard, now a communal lawned area, are all well finished and equipped and provide a relaxing retreat after a day out sightseeing, as well as admiring the free-range chickens that wander around the land, and the neighbouring livestock.

All are named after local rivers, offer comfortable accommodation and can be booked individually or together, depending on party numbers. Unwind in the 3 acres of grounds, relax in the heated indoor swimming pool (open every day), perhaps enjoy a sauna, or on a fine day, chill out with a barbecue in a pleasant setting overlooking beautiful Dorset countryside. These properties have been awarded a Dorset Silver Tourism Award for 2015.
Within easy driving distance visitors can explore the stunning Chesil Beach and Jurassic Coast, from Weymouth to the picturesque seaside resort of Lyme Regis, with its harbour and famous Cobb. Enjoy the many little seaside resorts, spectacular scenic coastal walks, fishing, swimming, fossil hunting and attractions such as Abbotsbury Swannery (where the swans may be fed) and Sub-Tropical Gardens, and Bennetts Water Gardens.
There are many historic houses and gardens to visit including Athelhampon House and Gardens, and Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park, as well as family attractions such as Bovington Tank Museum, Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, Monkey World at Wareham and the Sea Life Centre at Weymouth.
The bustling market and county town of Dorchester, 8 miles, with its 18th-century houses, shops, restaurants and market is worth a visit, as is Weymouth with its Georgian seafront, Blue Flag sandy beach and traditional seaside entertainment. Inland there is the famous Cerne Abbas Giant and the quaint historic abbey town of Sherborne. Enjoy golf, fishing, horse riding and go-karting locally. Convenience store on site. Shops and pubs 2 miles.
